Porting and moving

Is your customer thinking of moving?

Criteria at your fingertips

Our lookup tool makes your life easier.

Lending criteria

All our mortgage rates are portable, subject to the terms and conditions of the original Mortgage Offer and our current lending criteria.

Your customer can apply to ‘top up’ from our Post Office for Intermediaries product range if they need to borrow more to purchase their new property (up to 90% LTV).

Alternatively, if your customer is not tied in, or is happy to pay any ERCs that apply, they can apply for one of our Post Office for Intermediaries products for their new property (current lending criteria applies).

95% LTV products are not available for either option when moving home.

You can submit standard residential and standard Buy to Let cases. All non-standard cases (e.g. a sponsor on a mortgage, or a customer not residing in their residential mortgaged property) should be referred to our enquiry line on 0345 266 8928* prior to providing advice.

What do you need to do?

Follow our Porting and Movers - How to guide, and remember:

  • Make sure you’re registered and able to submit business with Post Office for Intermediaries so we can verify you. Check our distribution page for more information.
  • Check your customer has a mortgage with Post Office Money® or Post Office for Intermediaries. Your customer may have a Bank of Ireland branded mortgage document, but they will need to have applied through Post Office originally and not Bank of Ireland. Please call us to check on 0345 266 8928*.
  • We must receive a full application for the new property before the current mortgage is redeemed (ports only).
